This article provides a pictorial guide for performing a default installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.5.
Insert CD in system
Press Enter Key
Press Tab and select the Skip option
Press Next Button
Select English Language and continue
Select The Manual Partition option
Stage Area required 30~35 GB
Vision Installation on Single Directory required 170~175 GB

Note : the corresponding figures will be higher for the HP-UX Itanium platform.
e.g. on HP Platform
/db Database (Vision) 147000 MB / 147 GB
Server Name : uat
Domain Name : xxxx.com
Select No Firewall & click next
Select Karachi (Your Desired Location).
Enter the Root User Password
With Custom Packages Select à (Every Thing) Second Last option
Click Next to begin Installation
Welcome Screen
Select Date & Time
Host File Entries (/etc/hosts)

OS Users and group creation

groupadd dba
useradd oracle -g dba
# Set password for oracle user
passwd oracle (give the password for oracle)
# Premission rights on /d01/oracle to dba group
chgrp dba /d01/oracle
chmod g+w /d01/oracle
Now system is ready to run Oracle EBS setup. In coming Blog we will install R12-Vision Server on this machine.
